HIKING
Mount Mansfield
Mount Mansfield (elevation 4,393 feet) is the highest mountain in Vermont. From the east its ridge resembles the profile of a human face, and the names of its prominent features reflect this: Adams Apple (4,060'), Chin (4,393', highest point), Nose (4,062') and Forehead (3,940'). For about 2.3 miles (from the Forehead to Adams Apple) the Long Trail is almost constantly above treeline, the only such long stretch of alpine zone in Vermont. Please stay on the trail to avoid harming the delicate vegetation! The most common approaches to Camels Hump are fairly short trips from either the east or the west, though a much longer approach from the north is possible. From either the east or the west there is a choice of an up and down trip or a longer and more interesting loop.
| Routes to Mt. Mansfield Route | Distance | Elevation Gain | Book Time |
| Long Trail, round trip | 4.6 | 2,800 | 3:40 |
| Long Trail - Haselton loop | 6.5 | 2,800 | 4:40 |
| Hell Brook - Long Trail loop | 4.1 | 2,600 | 3:20 |
| Sunset Ridge round trip | 6.6 | 2,700 | 4:40 |
| Sunset Ridge - Laura Cowles loop | 6.0 | 2,700 | 4:20 |
Camel's Hump (elevation 4,083 feet) is the highest undeveloped mountain in Vermont, with no structures at the summit. Its rocky summit rises a few hundred feet above treeline, giving it an alpine feel that is only found on it and on Mount Mansfield in Vermont. Please protect the delicate alpine vegetation!
| Routes to Camel's Hump Route | Distance | Elevation Gain | Book Time |
| Monroe Trail round trip | 6.8 | 2,600 | 4:40 |
| Monroe and Dean Trail loop | 8.0 | 2,600 | 5:20 |
| Burrow's Trail round trip | 4.8 | 2,300 | 3:30 |

Pinnacle Trail
The Pinnacle Trail is a relatively short hike located east of town. The trailhead in Stowe Hollow is a 2.8 mile drive from Main Street on mostly paved roads. From the trailhead it's a 1.4 mile hike to the summit of the Pinnacle, a 2,740-foot peak in the Worcester Range (the eastern border of Stowe). Most of the trail is a fairly gradual and unobstructed ascent up the west side of the Pinnacle, although there is a short rocky section as you near the top. At the summit you will find unparalleled views of the town of Stowe below and Mt. Mansfield to the west. Hiking at a leisurely pace allowing time to enjoy the views takes about 2.5 hours round trip, while the physically fit can run the whole thing in 50 minutes.
Wiessner Woods
Weissner Woods is a perfect option for those seeking a big woods feel closer to home or just looking for a nice walk in the woods. Conserved in 1993 by Stowe Land Trust, Wiessner Woods boasts 80 acres of natural beauty including woods, streams, meadows, and an intricate and well maintained trail network. Perfect for jogging, walking the dog, cross country skiing, or a nice outing with the family, Wiessner Woods is a true gem of the Stowe community. Deer, moose, fox, and even bear along with noble white pines, sugar maples, beech, and cherry trees make up the back drop of this little haven. Make sure to ask for a "Visitor's Guide Hiking Map" at our Guest Services' desk when you visit the resort. It has useful information about trail routes and other important safety & ecological information about exploring Mount Mansfield in the summer. Look for partridge, thrush, grouse, falcons, owls, deer, fox and an occasional moose or bear as you hike the beautiful trails in Wiessner Woods which are overseen by the Stowe Land Trust who also provide trail maps. 802-253-7221.
